Govt. D. B. Girls' College is the oldest multi faculty College in Chhattisgarh to commence the skill based programme under self-finance scheme in an joint effort of Chemistry, Home Science and Botany department named as B.Sc. with Food Science and Quality Control in the year 2001-2002 session. The programme provides professional education for those who wish to develop a career in food processing sector and Food Science as well as to become an entrepreneur. It also focuses on the linkage between human beings and their lifestyle, food safety, food handling, food processing etc.. Food sector is an area of increasing importance to educators, environmentalists, product designers, consumers, researchers, housing and entrepreneurs.

The main objective of the programme is to develop skills and knowledge about food science and relate science and relate disuses among students which help them to become professionals who cane effectively play a role in designing, academics, research, hotel industry, training and community services.
